Irina’s movements expressing the swan using every body part including her long neck, collarbone, shoulder line, and even shoulder blades, showed that she was dancing with every single muscle.



“Swan Lake” by SPBT was a great combination of traditional Russian ballet elegance and of the touring ballet company’s own splendor.



Multifaceted expression of Odette/Odile electrified the audience. Taller than 170cm with long arms and legs, she delicately portrayed elegant flaps of the wings, and her jumps using all her muscles made the stage feel like vacuum. The scene where Odette met the Prince and opened her mind was pure and innocent, while the scene where arrogant and aggressive Odile appeared was full of sensuality. Especially, Odile’s highly challenging thirty-two fouettés was flawless.



SPBT’s splendid stage also stood out. Typical classical style with elegant colors was particularly eye-catching. Extravagant chandeliers of Grand Costume Ball and bluish Lake scenery of dreamy atmosphere with soft lighting gave an impression of appreciating a painting.
